Pros

Good if set up with a solid residency Flexible hours Some residencies pay better than others Kids are always great to work with no matter what

Cons

Disorganized admin, history of poor communication and not always transparent - can reflect badly on teachers. Once I had to teach a class in a cafeteria hallway on the floor next to a dumpster due to lack of communication between Togetherhood admin and the school I was working at (I had been promised a classroom with a white board and a projector, haha). Company more focused on expansion than improving upon the infrastructure that's already in place. The main website/app platform used to book residencies can be extremely buggy and frustrating. Its meant to streamline things but creates more challenges. No benefits though I got a $15 gift card one time

Pros

Very flexible work structure, ability to choose classes, schools, and sometimes teaching content Most prep work is remote and self-scheduled Management is responsive and communication is generally fast Curriculum design is very open-ended, which is great if you enjoy building your own workshops and adapting content for different age groups

Cons

Can take extra time upfront to design materials from scratch Since Togetherhood is a platform and you’re ultimately working directly with partner schools, expectations can vary depending on the school, and sometimes additional requirements come up that need further communication and alignment

Pros

I love this company! I’m coming up on a year with Togetherhood and I have never had a job I’ve loved more. I recommend it to all of my friends who are also recent college graduates. There is nothing like having the support and flexibility to design your own your own curriculum and fine-tune your preferences for an ideal classroom. The budgets for materials are always more than enough, allowing me to create truly fulfilling and engaging lessons. I love being able to fill my schedule with different programs, traveling all over different parts of the city and suburbs. I’ve learned more here than I have at any other teaching job I’ve had. It is a privilege to work with an endless variety of different age groups, learning preferences, and classroom sizes. I feel so important to the lives of my young students and I’ve formed bonds that I will never forget.

Cons

There are very few cons for me, I only wish I could teach more! My favorite sessions are the ones where I’m working more :)
