A Disappointing and Inauthentic Employer for US Employees - Anonymous employee Too Good To Go Employee Review

Pros

The majority of employees in the US are great individuals, with a passion for reducing food waste and combating climate change. The work-life balance can be great depending on the specific department, team, and manager. Pretty decent time off benefits and flexible hybrid work environment (though this may change at any time).

Cons

Due to changes in leadership, company culture has shifted and is focused on maximizing profits rather than maintaining a mission-oriented culture. New executives are not as invested in the company's mission, and have promoted their past work with oil companies. This shift in culture has led to a disconnect from the company's previous people and planet focused values. The company is great at "greenwashing", making an effort to appear environmentally friendly, but not taking substantial action. Most employees are actively exploring other job opportunities. Job security is questionable, as the company has a history of sudden and indiscriminate layoffs in the US. In my short time here, I've seen them: -Hire staff in new markets, only to lay them off a few weeks later when plans to open these markets changed. -Go through multiple rounds of restructuring and layoffs without clear direction, resulting in a lack of tenured employees in the US, and gutting the remaining culture in the process. -Force existing employees to take demotions or resign. -Hire and subsequently fire talent acquisition teams a few months later when they decided to halt hiring plans. The lack of proper human resource planning is scary. People have left good jobs to join this company, only to be taken advantage of. Don't do this to yourself. Compensation and benefits are inadequate, with mediocre health benefits, lack of 401k matching and minimal additional perks. Base compensation tends to be disgustingly low. They're now abiding by NYC's pay transparency law, so you can see for yourself just how pathetic their compensation is. Unlike other startup companies in the US, the company also fails to grant equity to its employees, and even when it does offer it, the employee must buy in using their own money from their below market salary. If you're a US employee, there really isn’t much growth. Sure, you can become a Team Lead for Success or Sales, but you’ll have a pretty low ceiling of where you can go. There are probably some career tracks that might lead to promotions, but for the most part promotions and growth is prioritized for European employees. Overall, this company is not a genuine or trustworthy employer, and I would advise anyone considering working here to proceed with caution. If you look on LinkedIn, you'll see plenty of former US employees. If you're actually considering joining this company, I suggest you reach out to a former employee first to get a better understanding of the risks associated with working here.
