Pros
The time off policy is a *little* nicer than normal
Cons
Transforming Age recently moved to "Transforming Age Associates" which allows the company (normally a non-profit) to operate with some for-profit architecture. Probably so the exec team can get bigger bonuses. The company used to be different from the rest, but in a good way. We used to be offered two free personal days off (given at the first of the year) on top of our PTO and sick leave, but since the move those were removed. They try to say that it's part of your PTO accrual now, but after looking at the numbers they were just removed. Additionally, they removed paid holidays. Instead, they added 9 PTO days to our accrual. The thing is though, those requests can be denied and you're forced to work instead of spend time with your family. Instead of saving your PTO to take a vacation, you're forced to spend it taking holidays off....so no vacation for you. Don't worry though - rest assured senior management is taking all the time off that they did before. They claimed that this change was to "be inclusive and let people celebrate the holidays that they wanted" but that's a complete lie. If that was true, surely there are smarter, more pro-worker ways to get that done. Another nice benefit that was removed was being able to leave early the day before a holiday if you had no more work to do. But that's gone....so you can do more work. This company used to be very relaxed, but that's no more.
