Pros

Most of the staff seemed nice and friendly, it was fun during summer and the customer service aspect was great work experience.

Cons

Everything else. Bullying, unprofessionalism, you could be doing your best in the pouring rain, inhaling dust from construction, being groped by the public, sick etc. and you will not be appreciated because you're not part of a clique. If you're part of the clique you can do whatever you want, smoke, leave for a bit, play on your phone and it's fine by them. One person in particular is known for using weird aggressive tactics to bully workers. They hire foreign people with limited english skills, so they are easier to boss about, they don't tell them that they have to file taxes, it's just a mess. I hope one day, the specific people involved at the manchester evening news are exposed. It's a shame because most of the people working there are decent. It's just a few individuals in particular. I left because of management, not because of the job - which I enjoyed despite all other aspects. I had a heart issue a few weeks after quitting which landed me in hospital. I'm glad I left and I will never fall for one of these types of jobs ever again.

Pros

Great collaborative working experience. A curious mix of veteran journalists and young, new media content creators.

Cons

Inconsistent standard of content. More interested in creating populist, engaging content than important culturally significant work.
