Pros

Friendly supportive colleagues 'in the same boat make the best of it' atmosphere. Flexibility with hybrid working. Autonomy for getting work done.

Cons

Upper management use a bullying style to get things done = toxic culture. Zero investment in/effort to retain people. Tools are inadequate, leads to stressful work environment. Very little support for getting work done/reaching targets. Pay is on the low side of average. No sick pay. No bonuses. Stock options sometimes offered.

Pros

Work from home (later stopped)

Cons

Nepotism and favouritism are embedded in the culture. Under-performing staff were protected due to personal relationships with management, while others were held to different standards. Recruitment and internal progression were handled in an extremely underhand way. Outcomes were openly discussed with team members before interviews took place, and roles had already been offered to other candidates before all interviews were completed. Management actively instructed staff not to contact 'out of contract' customers as they were overpaying, raising serious ethical concerns. Communication from leadership was frequently dishonest, particularly around pay, commission structures, and progression. Commission schemes were changed and then negated on, resulting in having to argue to get paid your earned commission. Repeatedly changed or removed with minimal notice, with targets and “goalposts” moved retrospectively. This resulted in widespread resignations. Pay was not handled correctly. I left the business with final months commission missing from my final salary. Despite repeated attempts to resolve this directly, only partial payment made, Full payment was only made six months later, and only after ACAS became involved and a tribunal date had been confirmed. The money was paid within 24 hours of the tribunal notification being received. The fact that ACAS intervention was required to recover unpaid wages speaks for itself.
