Pros

-Great training -Excellent support system -Potential to grow your wilderness skill-set -Great co-worker culture -Helpful management that care -Beautiful location -6 days off, 8 days on (Could be a con for some) -Decent pay -Some benefits -Potential to make huge positive changes in your students lives!

Cons

-Supply your own outdoors gear (Which takes a beating in the field) -Long days (8hr-14hrs) -6 days off, 8 days on (Could be a pro!) -Emotionally and physically taxing work -Could be cut from the schedule for a shift and not work for two weeks (Might be a pro for some) -On call shifts that require you to remain close to HQ for the week (I never minded these, but could be a con to some)

Pros

It is a job that allows you a full scope of care which I appreciated allowing you to be close with the kids in a setting where you really learn about mental illness/behavior patterns/ etc. It was a well run program. They seemed to truly care about the kids and it provided me with life experience/learning/lessons/relationships that I will carry with me forever.

Cons

Hard work/life balance. Seemed split between two worlds, world at home and world at work. Extreme amounts of responsibility, which can be positive but you must be up for the task.
