Pros
-Able to set up a profile quickly. -Able to put your best qualification & your DBS status (Eg: A degree) on the search page, so it's easy to see.
Cons
-Commission is too high for tutors to earn a decent living. Although it goes down after a period of time & with the amount of lessons you do, there isn't enough work/jobs available to generate a lower commission fee. -Asking for references/or a review from others at the early stages of being on Tutorfair, is not a reflection of the work you have done via Tutorfair as a new tutor. It is also time time consuming. -There is not enough Jobs available to apply for. -Having to update your availability on your profile is not a good idea. A Tutor's schedule can change often/or daily (as mine does) & it is off putting for potential clients, as they may assume you are not available to work on the days that are on your profile. It is better if the potential client & tutor corresponds with each other via the messaging system to work out availability and times mutually agreeable to both. -The website seems a bit dated, with a lack of potential clients 'passing through' which means a lack of jobs available. -The postcode/& area algorithms/area search is so wrong! When you type in the Croydon area for tutors, it comes up with tutors from Edgeware in Middlesex & it thinks that Mitcham is in Kent!
