Pros

They pay well...until you find out that the reason they pay so well is because the environment is so toxic.

Cons

The culture is absolutely toxic. There is a lot of lip service about how much they value their employees, but the leadership will consistently blame everyone below them for bad decisions made by the execs. Women and minorities do not hold business-centric leadership positions where there is any real decision making. There seems to be rounds of layoffs - targeted at the worker bees - every 6 months...followed by hiring more director/VP level positions. This organization is very top heavy and very few of the senior leadership care how much they are burning out their employees. The politics. There is politics in every company, but the amount of bickering/in-fighting/throwing-under-the-bus at CSS is insane. I've sat in on the executive meetings and amount of backstabbing was embarrassing. The bi-annual employee survey was so bad that they wouldn't reveal any of the results (but made a lot of lip service about having "workshops" to solve some of the feedback...these "workshops" never got scheduled and I can't imagine how much worse the next employee survey will be)

Thank you for your feedback and advice. I’m sorry your experience at CSS wasn’t what you hoped for. I work hard every day, as do most of us at CSS, to provide a great working environment for all of our employees. We do this through a variety of means, too long a list to include here, but I’ll call out a few: a.m. and p.m. daily huddles and twice-a-month all employee town halls, which we hold to keep everyone informed and on the same page; our 3-times-a-year employee engagement surveys, the results of which we always share at an all-employee town hall; numerous employee resource groups and the many social and developmental events they plan; an aggressive diversity and inclusion strategy; a new career architecture framework intended to provide clear career-mapping for every role at CSS; summer Fridays off; a 100% virtual workforce during the pandemic; and more. It seems, however, that we fell short for you and we’ll take your feedback to try to improve our company. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. Thank you, Tony Renzi, CEO, CSS

Pros

CEO is phenomenal, excellent benefits and work life balance.

Cons

Infosec culture and professionalism could be better. The soft skills of some teams meme era could be improved.

Pros

If you like to switch around onto different teams, they love that and will support horizontal movement with the same pay. Lots of employee engagement opportunities even though it is remote.

Cons

Too much change going on with the FHFA getting too involved. Threatened to bring employees back to the office, then stayed remote again. People got laid off, and instead of hiring more people they just rotate people horizontally instead of promoting people vertically. The amount of projects and work keeps increasing but there is not enough staff to support it, ends up becoming a toxic environment of overworking. No pay boost either, just arbitrary work rewards to appreciate you.
