Pros

nice campus, pension program plus 403B, generous sick leave

Cons

unstable funding future, layoffs, favoritism and nepotism among management. After being employed for over 8 years by the University, who lack dignity, I was forced into taking a layoff during a reduction in force, in which I held seniority over many other employees... Why you may ask?? Favoritism, management pulled strings to protect their personal friends in the department who had half the seniority. They took a loyal, faithful, hardworking employee and traded that to save pals who worked for them who called in sick whenever they got 8 hours accrued.... When it comes down to it, union backing or not, they can do away with you for whatever, whenever... An employee who not only VOLUNTEERED countless hours to training, PR, but one who had NEVER received even a verbal warning, who had stellar annual performance reviews who had a total of 5 sick calls in over 8 years, and one who knew and LOVED the job.... Your loss UCD..
