Pros

Mostly flexible hours, you work with games and computers, you're teaching kids who want to learn, jeans and t-shirt dress code, and for the most part you work with chill, intelligent people.

Cons

High expectations and extensive work for low pay and no benefits; room for professional growth is also severely stifled. Disorganized leadership, underdeveloped yet expanding curriculum, little to no/very poor teacher training.

Pros

• I initially loved working at UCode for the opportunity to do what I was passionate about: teaching kids to code and make computer games •The enthusiastic kids and parents were awesome to work with. •I was constantly expanding my knowledge of coding by studying and teaching the coding curriculums • The center has a genius set-up for efficient teaching. Kids work through the curriculum at their own pace on their individual computers. Instructors assist kids with questions as opposed to giving lectures. • Full-time work is available during the summer (but not the school year) • Flexible scheduling • Great pay

Cons

• Very strict rules with a three-strike policy before being terminated. The job became stressful after this policy was implemented, especially upon reaching only one strike left. • Tardiness rule was too strict. It gave one strike for being even one minute late. Being on time was sometimes difficult with LA's terrible freeway traffic. I felt that that this rule promoted stressful, reckless driving. • Overtime my hours were reduced and it was difficult to get the number of hours that I wanted. • Not for those seeking full-time because the after-school hours UCode can teach are limited. • Curriculum could get buggy at times
