Pros

It has an ok work/life balance with some roles allowing for hybrid workweek.

Cons

UL has slashed benefits including profit sharing, reduced annual salary bumps, raised insurance premiums, and lowered staff morale all while racking in record profits for the top execs. It used to be a great place to work but they got rid of the long time employees since they no longer value our loyalty.

Thank you for leaving us your feedback and for your length of service with UL Solutions. It is great to hear you feel that your work/life balance is respected and you are able to enjoy the benefits of our hybrid work policy. We have recently restructured our benefits package to be more in line with market offerings and to standardize our offerings. We include every employee in the annual employee incentive bonus program and will include all employees in the employee stock purchase program, with a global rollout in progress. We take your feedback seriously and appreciate you sharing this feedback.

Pros

- The team is great. Both morning and night shift tend to interact well and joke. Both teams know the importance of time and place meaning they take work seriously but also have fun. - Manager of the department is really cool and is a team leader. Really cares for the team - Good job to gain experience

Cons

- Peak season is a drag. 72hr weeks for ~11 weeks really takes a toll, and upper management doesn't really do anything to help. - The pay isn't all that great compared to other engineers in the Bay Area. - Certification testing follows the procedures of the client and regulatory agencies. There isn't much room to express creative thought. Mundane work. - Regional Manager doesn't have the interest of the employees, only of the client. Regional would go to the meeting as a yes man to the client without consulting the engineering leads. - Ever since UL Solutions went public, it doesn't feel like a safety company. They care more about how much money they can make or save than about the safety of the consumer product.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your thoughts. We are happy to hear that you work in a positive team environment where you feel cared about and that you have been able to gain positive experience. We understand that some may encounter longer working hours, especially during peak periods tied to customer deadlines. Although these situations are time‑limited and part of real project demands, we recognize that extended hours can be challenging and are not something we want to become the norm. We are actively exploring ways to better balance workload expectations, provide clearer guidance around work hours, and ensure managers have the tools to support healthy work practices. We appreciate this feedback.
