Pros

Pros: Friendly coworkers, a diverse workplace, and the opportunity to work with people from different backgrounds. Team members are generally supportive, and the work can be meaningful when helping the community.

Cons

Cons: The pay is not competitive for the workload and responsibilities. Annual raises are very small, and there are no performance or holiday bonuses. Employees are often expected to do more without compensation that reflects their contributions. Better pay, meaningful raises, and employee recognition would go a long way toward improving morale and retention.

Pros

Decent benefits. A lot of Holiday Off days and good amount of PTO.

Cons

Unfortunately, my experience with this organization was very disappointing. The workplace culture felt toxic, with a strong sense of favoritism and cronyism. Advancement often seemed to depend more on personal relationships with management than on qualifications, experience, or performance, leaving many deserving employees overlooked. Gossip appeared to play a significant role in decision-making, and there was little accountability at the leadership level. Employees often felt that if they upset the wrong person, their job security could quickly be put at risk. Compensation did not reflect the workload. Many frontline employees were expected to take on significant responsibilities while remaining underpaid and underappreciated. At the same time, leadership appeared to enjoy retreats, gatherings, and other perks that highlighted the disconnect between administration and the staff doing the day-to-day work. As a nonprofit organization, I expected a stronger commitment to both employees and the community it serves. Client concerns often seemed to go unresolved, which was discouraging to witness. With multiple programs ending, many employees have been left uncertain about their futures. Rather than providing transparency and meaningful support, leadership seemed primarily focused on protecting their own positions. There was a noticeable lack of communication, empathy, and concern for the staff whose livelihoods were affected. Overall, this organization has the potential to do meaningful work, but significant improvements in leadership, transparency, accountability, and employee support are needed to create a healthier workplace.
