Pros
Interesting environment, many jobs require a wide variety of skills and constant refreshing / learning to keep up with policy changes.
Cons
The Organization has reorganized and off-shored staff at least 8 times in my 20 years here - I've been lucky to survive; IT software is behind the times; procurement processes are onerous. It's difficult to move from one position to another. There's a limited career path at any level, but if you don't have a supportive manager, your career will not advance.
