Cons
Weather Conditions. Although it’s possible to work in.. it also can be exhausting. The trucks are always hotter than the temp outside. The snow isn’t bad to work in you really just have to bundle up! Don’t be afraid of the winter! When you are walking you’re already generating heat! Ppl are usually too warm when doing walking routes bc they over dressed. But your feet and hands might be cold but again prepare. Wear a good pair of gloves double up on socks. Yano. There is no schedule.. Expect to work 6 days a week. The Post office is in high demand of Letter Carriers. We literally make the post office. We move the mail. Everyday all day. But based off your performance you may not get the hours you want. They want you to be able to complete a whole route as soon as possible! Just so they can be able to get as much work possible out of you. It took me 2 months until i was able to complete a whole route. They are patient with you but deff want to see you progressing everyday. Depending on how you perform pretty much sums up how much hours you’re going to work. Why? Bc technically starting out as a CCA you are considered PART TIME. Meaning they don’t have to give you hours and they won’t if your not performing. I see reviews on this app and the only reason your not getting hours is either bc your not performing well or you’re at a over staffed station which is rare bc they usually fill a CCA position if it’s needed. I’m Part time but Getting Overtime is that makes sense (: I live the post office it fits my work ethic. It may not be for your. I’d hate to leave a review and you’re still questioning if u should apply or not so this is my take on it... If you are willing to work 6 days a week in all weather conditions then yes go for it! The check is definitely worth it!!! If you can’t do those two than you will not make it ... don’t even waste you’re time. I know working 6 days a week seems crazy but i don’t dread going to work.. like i did at my old job Idk. I guess i found a job i don’t mind doing everyday. It’s confusing and a lot to learn especially when you’re out on your own but they deff are patient with you and if u need any help just ask! I’m still learning different things weekly.
