Pros

Working at USI as an Ancillary Analyst has honestly been one of the best career experiences I’ve had so far. One of the biggest pros is the inclusive and supportive culture, I’ve always felt like I belonged here. The teamwork is real. Everyone is willing to jump in and help, whether it’s answering questions, reviewing work, or just making sure you're set up for success. There's always someone to lean on, and that kind of environment really builds your confidence. Another thing I appreciate is how much collaboration happens across departments. I’ve worked closely with producers, account managers, and carriers, which has helped me understand how everything connects. You also get exposed to a lot of strategy — like how panel carriers are selected or how renewal negotiations happen — so it's not just data crunching, it feels like your work has a purpose.

Cons

If I had to name a con, I’d say the analyst role is very support-based, so if you’re someone who enjoys direct client interaction or building relationships, you might eventually want to move into a more front-facing role.

Pros

You get out of it what you put into it. Autonomy and responsibility if you are fluent in the principles of extreme ownership. Think of it like running your own business as an entrepreneur, with a deep well of resources at your fingertips to help you be successful. High upside if you are willing to put in the work! (and that doesn't mean 50 hour weeks or unmanageable workloads)

Cons

If you don't have an open mind, are closed off to learning new things, and don't have a "how can I help" mentality, this may not be the best fit for you. Pay (base salary) may be slightly lower than other consulting firms, but total rewards package in the aggregate is competitive, and high upside potential with career path opportunities.
