Pros

Having worked as a freelance trainer in the industry for 4 years previous to joining, I am all too aware of the pitfalls of going solo in a cut-throat profit over results model. UP not only allows you to forge a legitimate career path but develops you into honing your craft as a results-producing trainer. The ethos and culture set in principle by Nick Mitchell and followed top-down by the leadership team is nothing short of world-class. Upon arrival, you are guided through the process by an experienced mentor who ensures your success through a rigorous learning process of fine-tuning and accountability. Within 2 years I was able to rise from a junior trainer to being offered the opportunity to manage a team of trainers overseas in Mumbai. Combining travel with a genuine career was always something that I had been seeking and to be able to achieve this was a dream come true. UP really is the elite place for Personal Trainers that provides a competitive yet highly inclusive environment that transforms not only the clients but the trainers too. I personally learned more in my first year than 4 years previously free-lancing. It is a true meritocracy where if you put in the hard work and deliver results, you will reap the rewards.

Cons

As UP consistently produces outstanding results, the standards are extremely high. If you are someone who is okay to coast along, produce mediocre work and not take on criticism well, this might not be the place for you. The pressure to deliver is high but the rewards are great and worth pursuing.

Pros

- Ongoing education - Team atmosphere is prioritized - Communication - Mentorship - Career tracks - Clientele provided - No sales experience is needed - Challenging - Performance-based growth - Support - Friendly environment

Cons

- Like all gyms, when clients are away this impacts trainers on commission (trainers can simply prepare for this ahead of time by planning to train clients more before they depart for travel.) - You need to stick to your goal to become the best trainer and/or manager when you are here because the work can be demanding (nothing is wrong with this, just know that this is not a job to go through the motions with.) - Need to put your ego away and be able to take criticism (not always easy if not prepared to do this each and every day.)
