Pros
Final salary pension, recently reduced in its core benefit, but at least still currently available to new entrants.
Cons
Many of the staff that make up the general secretariat and level 1 managers are morally bankrupt. Management struggles to act with integrity and authenticity. Huge gender pay gap (union led by women, with over 70% of membership identifying as women), the organisation is not concerned with addressing this. Ethnicity pay gap reporting will only happen if mandated by legislation. The results would be dire. Cronyism is the only way to climb the career ladder. A dearth of leadership. Neither the Secritariat, nor the bloated glut of middle managers, appear to have a clue what they're doing or appreciate what's going on half of the time. Further, they don't seem remotely interested in improving. The organisation is consumed intensely by internal politics and political intrigue. This leads to high levels of opaqueness, encouraging a lack of transparency and very poor behaviour.
