Cons
Horrible company. Horrible department. Everyone you talk to is not happy and looking for jobs elsewhere, regardless of the department. Lots of people recently leaving only reflects how bad the situation within this company is. Managers are a bunch of liars. They genuinely couldn't care less about their teams - they say they do, but there's no backup from them. You are left alone when thrown under the bus or when facing a problem. Upper management is a J-O-K-E! They literally tell you to work overtime for free and all sorts of lies and mind games. You are constantly being watched and people are always throwing others under the bus. Fexibility is gone with the new manager, who is being a puppet in the hands of the upper management. We don't get any support whatsoever. No decent raises, no opportunity to grow, no bonus. People were laid off and some other people left and they expect you to absorb the work and still do overtime for free. They just want the job done - but again, do not claim overtime. That's bad, if you do. If you decide to log the overtime hours, you are not being efficient and a good employee. No room to grow, no opportunities. They have 3 tiers of positions within supply chain: supply planner 1, 2 and 3. Everyone does the same job and yet no one has a clue on how to be promoted. Expect at least 4 to 5 years to get a "promotion", if you are lucky. Everyone in purchasing is sick and disgusted of Univar. NO EXCEPTIONS. Coming to work is a struggle. Nobody cares anymore. Pretty much done with Univar. Also, pay is ridiculous, you can get much much more elsewhere, however, the market now sucks. Annual bonus for purchasing is only good for a meal at McDonald's. Not joking! Hope I get to leave this company soon! Good luck if you are applying to work here - you'll need it big time! Just a FYI, I'm not based out of Red Deer.
