Pros

Well, they pay you and they do offer health coverage. Flexibility (working from home or hours) does exist around company, although it seems to be ok for employees who are "in" and not equally applied to all.

Cons

Seems strange to work for a company that does not require its members to use mail order for prescription drugs, in fact does not offer it at all, yet requires employees to use mail order for prescriptions with the insurer they use for employee healthcare coverage. Salary increases in past two years have been pitiful - 2% around the board. This company is making money hand over first yet employee contribution to health care benefits far exceeds the 2% increase you get. Yes, economy and business in US is in bad shape, but not this company. So, seems like it's just a good excuse to be handing out 2% raises. There is very little, if any, interaction between management and employees. If there is, we're not seeing it.

Pros

The division of Universal American I worked for doesn't exist anymore. It was a great place to work, but its a moot point, as I am only writing this review because Glassdoor is forcing me to so that I can use the system in general.

Cons

There are no cons for me to enter, my segment of the company no longer exists.

Pros

I work with a nice group of people who work hard. Flexible work schedule, ability to work from home as needed, generous paid time off. Very grateful for the talented people who care and are willing to help.

Cons

Been here over 4 years and have had as many bosses. Company is constantly buying and selling companies, leaving you to wonder if you'll still have your job tomorrow. When people are laid off or leave (and good people are constantly fleeing this company), they do not replace them, just pile the work on the next level down. Ultimately, you end up with people who have no clue what they're doing because they're not qualified or trained for the job they've suddenly been dumped with. I was one of them. It took me months to figure out what I was doing and who the helpful players were when I was thrust into a completely new line of business with absolutely no guidance. There is a serious lack of communication -- leadership does not communicate what's going on so employees are living in constant fear that their days are numbered. And speaking of numbers, that's all we are. We are not people with families or financial responsibilities. We are that one or two salaries they want to eliminate so that the Board can make their bottom line, regardless of how loyal you've been or vital your role.
