As always at a French public university, the tenure track is much faster than in the US, the pressure to publish is much lower and there is the nearby sea and beautiful weather...
Cons
The teaching load can be very heavy depending on the department, the admin load can reach Kafkaian proportions, it's a sink or swim system for students who pay virtually no fees, the conditions for research are much less attractive than in the US
