Pros
I came in as a consultant and had a lot of freedom to chase digital partnership opportunities and test ideas in the market. It was genuinely enjoyable working alongside a former colleague, and I appreciated the trust to operate independently while still having access to leadership when needed. I was paid fairly and on time. Also, getting to represent and pitch America's Funniest Videos was an absolute honor.
Cons
As a contractor, the biggest challenge was communication and process during a contract renewal cycle. There were avoidable gaps and last minute back and forth with former executives that could have been handled more professionally and with clearer ownership. Separately, the company went through multiple rounds of layoffs during my time consulting, which created uncertainty and made planning and momentum harder than it needed to be.
