Pros

Flexible scheduling; academic health center that is attempting to create a culture of excellence; a lot of skill autonomy (you don't have to wait for a skilled team like vascular access to come get the iv-- you are able to do it); decent benefits; Clinical Ladder with opportunities to expand practice; financial compensation is competitive for floor nursing

Cons

still a gap between stated culture & actual culture; some managers still seem to be bullies (an occupational hazard in nursing, apparently); despite touting a "work-life" balance, all of the wellness programs are for the 9-to-5ers-- not the 12 hr shift workers who need the most "work-life" balance; no apparent accountability mechanism for mid-level leadership-- on my unit solvable problems that have been brought to leadership's attention for several years remain unsolved; very little policy guidance so that inconsistency is rampant (from visiting hours to types of patients appropriate for the floor)
