Pros
Benefits and salary were good Coworkers could be helpful and frankly it seemed like everyone was more or less on the same page about their feelings on the company so it could be nice to vent While employees are expected to be in office full time now, there was a high degree of flexibility if someone needed to be out for an appointment, delivery, etc. This most likely depends a lot on the manager though.
Cons
Somewhat often in the office you could overhear managers on calls with their direct reports yelling at and verbally berating them (saying things like "you're stupid", "why do you even work here?", etc.) It goes without saying that this sort of behavior should be considered totally unacceptable and a fireable offense, especially from a manager to their employee. Instead it's treated as an unfortunate open secret. And of course it affects the overall office morale when this kind of thing is happening out in the open. Constant reshuffling of teams which is no surprise since so, so many people want to leave this awful work environment (and many others are laid off or fired). This would lead to a lot of really incompetent managers being put in charge as upper management scrambled to hold things together. Little opportunity for career growth for most engineers. It felt like a small number of engineers were given an enormous volume of work. This led to those engineers being unfortunately overworked while more junior engineers or those who hadn't been at the company as long never getting to take on larger projects or getting support from management. While this is obviously pretty demoralizing and no way to run a company, it certainly means you can get a lot of time to apply to and interview for other jobs while you're on the clock if you're not one of the unlucky few who are overworked. Abysmal on diversity. You could count the number of women engineers on one hand. Same with engineers from underrepresented minorities. The company would keep saying, "oh we'll eventually put more of a focus on that!" until people stopped asking and they were off the hook. Really shameful.
