Pros

Mail.Ru is one of the IT largest companies in Russia. Lots of well-qualified technical specialists.

Cons

Bad companies "karma" in IT community; Management is very poor. Product managers are fine, but theirs directors and some of VP are absolutely ineffective. HR working only on hunting new developers; No performance reviews, you need to ask your management about salary growth; In my team is very bad work-life balance.

Pros

For a software engineer, data engineer, product manager, or similar tech role, VK appears to be viewed by many employees as a solid large-tech employer with good compensation and strong technical talent, but not necessarily the best choice if you're seeking rapid career progression or a highly entrepreneurial culture. The main complaints center on management structure and bureaucracy rather than pay or technical work.

Cons

Bureaucracy and slow decision-making — Employees often mention multiple approval layers and slower execution in larger departments. Inconsistent management quality — Experiences can vary significantly between teams; some managers are highly regarded, while others are criticized for communication or leadership. Limited career advancement in certain areas — Promotions and internal mobility may be less transparent than at some global tech firms.
