Pros
VREAL is truly a wonderful place to work. The team is highly passionate and collaborative, both in the office and outside the office. I'm proud to work with this team.
Some of my favorite aspects:
- Open-door from the top down. Having ideas and speaking to them is encouraged at VREAL.
- The best HR in the industry. They truly care about the team, providing a wholistic wellness program, helping to promote healthy physical and mental health. I always feel like I can approach our HR with any problem and they help in a discrete and respectful manner. I can't say enough good things!
- Great benefits - Never had issues with that!
- Working on a BADASS future platform, where we get to pave the way of the future.
- A team that is active in the VR community - hosting VR meet ups, partnering with local businesses, speaking at industry events... the list goes on.
- Seattle is a beautiful city, and the office has an awesome view. We get to see every beautiful west coast sunset!
- The fact that it's a small team makes it feel like a family.
- Diverse team of industry vets act with maturity and dignity, while still being able to let go and enjoy each other's company.
- Open PTO and flexible on WFH occasionally - as long as you get your work done, I feel like the team is respectful of IRL things.
Cons
- While I do like that the office is open concept in the sense that it promotes collaboration, the work I do can be a little difficult to get done with distractions happening easily, and a feeling like I can't take a phone call at my desk.
- Even though it is a small company, it occasionally feels like we're not all on the same page in terms of the direction of the product. However, this is something that I see getting better and is recognized rather than denied. It's important to note that there is definite improvement in this department and continues to be.
- It's in the city, which is pricey to live in, and pricey to commute to - and only seems to be getting pricier. While the city feels very alive - lots of great food and activities close by - it can be hard to get in and out.
- Startup life, while exciting and with a transparent leardership team, is still a bit stressful. This also comes with making future technology where there is still some unknown on how well VR will do.
- I'm not convinced yet that there is a ton of room for moving up, but we'll see (small con)
