Pros

CEO (now former) Tinu Mathur jumped ship during COVID. Bad timing, as the company was suffering, but good for the employee's sanity and work/life balance.

Cons

Meddlesome (now former) CEO micromanaged every department and bottlenecked every process. Post-Production department lacked any management and this lead to the editors having to take on management duties/responsibilities without any increase in pay or real authority. Incredibly unhealthy work/life balance. Editors routinely worked extra hours just to keep up. All overtime was unpaid. After almost 6 years of working regular overtime hours, not a single minute of it was paid. This is illegal. When questioned about how this was possible/legal, the topic was brushed under the rug. Employees were routinely pressured into working unpaid hours almost every single week. When hired, it was stated that performance reviews would occur every year. This was not the case as multiple years would go by without even a peep from management. Employees had to initiate the conversation about a potential increase in wages. And even then, the raises offered were barely enough to keep up with the increase in minimum wage. Given the massive workload put on the Post-Production employees, this job pays peanuts. More value is placed in a formal creative education over concrete demonstrable experience. This was evident in one new hire being offered a higher salary than the editor training her as her education and potential was considered more value to the company. VRX studios is a joke, and everyone should steel very clear of this business. When COVID occurred, the company took advantage of the government's 75% Employee Wage Subsidy, but then cut all wages (minus the CEO's of course) by 25%. When this was questioned, the topic was very blatantly avoided during the company meeting. This lead many to believe that VRX/Tinu were illegally abusing the wage subsidy program. To anyone interested in landing a career in image editing, there are far better and healthier businesses to apply to than VRX. Avoid at all costs unless massive structural changes have been made. VRX was an utter nightmare to work at and every single day was overly stressful and mentally draining.

Pros

The work-life balance is excellent, mainly due to the flexibility that comes with remote work.

Cons

The work can feel repetitive at times, as the focus is often on one specific task. While this helps build expertise, it can also make things feel a bit monotonous. However, if you enjoy a predictable routine, this job could be a great fit.
