Because the company is young, it doesn’t have as much structure as some larger firms. This is also an opportunity if you are interested in having more autonomy and a greater footprint on the development of the firm!

Fast paced learning experience, good coworkers with high intellect. A lot of fun company events and kept employees in the know for the most part. You have the ability to move up quickly in your career due to it being a small company. Fast growing company with big projects when I was there.

Thrown into the deep end without much life jacket when I first started especially coming from college. Mentor did not care about my concerns and used my honesty as a ding on my performance review. Project and work was monotonous and you had no choice in the type of work you got to do. Being a small consulting company focused on web development pigeonholes you into work that you may not end up liking if you are still exploring your career interests. Lack of transparency was the biggest. There are a lot of unwritten expectations and rules and being a startup without any formal processes in place make it a confusing workplace. Not much travel expect for commuting long distances to the client site everyday. And an “Unlimited PTO” policy that actually revolves around who your manager is and how well your project is going. People come and go for a reason.
