Pros

Dynamic work environments in a "big business" setting (large-scale projects, relatively large workforce). In an engineering/technical setting, you get to see a lot of different aspects of the jobs, with many different types of equipment to learn about. In Operations, you can see the effects of your labor and receive recognition. In Maintenance, you get to work on big jobs of high importance. Pay is higher than most other industries. Due to the large size of the company (multiple locations), there is a lot of room for advancement/growth if you are willing to move around.

Cons

There is always a lot of money on the line riding on employee time/performance, which sometimes creates stress at work with regard to personal time, pressure on people to report good performance, and aggressive schedules for work completion. Due to a large number of workers beginning to retire, personnel are often stretched thin and the site is behind on hiring replacement people to train. The on-going worker training program for hourly personnel needs improvement. Technical/manager training is better, but most of that is done at the corporate office in San Antonio, TX.
