Pros
My co-workers in our immediate group were great. Very intelligent, fun group of folks to work with. Most credit union employees were very friendly and helpful.
Cons
Please be advised that most I.T. positions at KSFCU will require you to be on-call. The purpose of writing this review is to make folks aware as it severely impacts work/life balance. No overtime is every allowed so split shifts are required. This is 24/7 operation that is only staffed 8x5. You will most likely NOT be told this upon hire. On-Call is 7 days/week and the policy is as follows: 1. You are issued a highly restricted/hardened company mobile phone. 2. Hours vary but weekday on-call is typically 6:00pm - 6:00am (12hrs) 3. Weekend on call varies as well but usually 8:00am - 8:00am (24hrs) 4. During on-call you are expected to closely monitor email on your company mobile device. All equipment and software is monitored, there are a high volume of emails. 5. You have 30 minutes to acknowledge any email alert including false positives. Failure to comply may result in disciplinary action the following day. This includes during the night so you must check email at least once each hour throughout the night in case an alert requires response. 5. The additional compensation for these duties is very low and there is almost never overtime included. 6. I was on-call one Friday, one Saturday and one Sunday each month leaving only a single weekend free. You will have to trade days with co-workers to free additional time. Split Shifts You will also be expected to work split-shifts, sundays nights and weekends. The reason for split shift is there is NO overtime allowed AT ALL. These are typically not planned and surface at the last minute. If you are in an Engineer position be advised the job duties are nothing more than a glorified help desk position. It requires little to no critical thinking. I found it was not challenging at all. The compensation is at the lower end of competitive. There is upward mobility but be advised that it's a VERY SLOW climb. The environment is highly compartmentalized and groups are almost constantly being merged then split again. Due to this additional job duties will be added without prior notice or any formal training. Since the beginning of 2018 there has been a high volume of turnover in I.T. at KSFCU.
