Pros

The best thing about working at the credit union is the people you will work with. You will find the employees are caring of each other. I have seen fundraising for people who have lost loved ones and departments purchase gifts for familys in need. Good place to work if you just want to do the bare minimum and still get paid. Good benefits.

Cons

You probably won't ever move up because there isn't a lot of places to go. The senior leadership and board of directors don't look like the community. They are considerable whiter and older than the community they are supposed to serve. Development isn't really a priority and they will just look outside rather than working to help you get ahead in your career. No accountability lets people who have managed to skate by stay in positions that aren't appropriate. Pay scales start out okay, but raises aren't good. Even after a long time I get change for raises.

Pros

Strong executive leadership: They have a clear vision and often brings forward great ideas that align with the credit unions mission. Team member appreciation: There is a genuine culture of appreciation. When a team member speaks up, their voices are heard and valued. Robust external opportunities: Credit union offers a wide range of opportunities and resources for both members and employees, including mentorship programs, community events, financial counseling, notary services and more all at their expense, As well as a partial reimbursement for school. Overall, a strong and healthy culture that makes it enjoyable to be around coworkers and even top leadership. I have felt welcomed and valued in every room I have been in at Valley Strong.

Cons

Weak Follow-Through: While the ideas and initiatives are great, the execution and long-term follow-through often fall short. Lack of Communication with Changes: There are frequent changes within the organization, but they are not always clearly communicated to team members, which can lead to confusion. Unclear Leadership Expectations: Leadership could improve transparency and consistency around expectations and the reasoning behind decisions, particularly during periods of transition or change.
