Poor pay, management will lie to your face fully knowing you'll figure out they lied to you. Will cheat you out of OT pay,
Forced over time, when I was let go I was doing 14-16 hour shifts multiple weeks in a row, when I refused, they fired me for not supporting them in Emergency situations, Emergency situations that lasted weeks at a time.
The pay and benefits are good. There are safety bonuses. If you have a FAST card and want to run in the US they will probably be happy. I worked in Calgary, AB and the management was excellent, they are mostly ex-drivers themselves so they know not to schedule the impossible. On-site garage with good mechanics and a wash bay make service and keeping your unit clean easy. They have assigned units and listen if you say there's a problem. It's hauling mostly bulk liquid products (sugar, milk, alcohol).
Cons
Liquid sugar can be really sticky if you have a bit of a spill. You're mostly outside loading and unloading so it's hot in summer and cold in winter.
