Pros

Half decent pay, no overtime.

Cons

Operation of this technical support office is a great use-case demonstrating what happens when a really incompetent person is entrusted with management powers. You take someone with no IT or management experience, no desire to improve their skills or techniques, a spiteful personality and deep laziness and put them in charge of others. Coming at no surprise, it doesn't result in a great company culture or working environment. Working in this team will be confusing because it commonly defies business logic and will leave you wondering how things could possibly operate in this way. Management doesn't care much for the significance or quality of contributions to the company or team satisfaction/employee turnover rates. They focus like crazy on tracking insignificant metrics and reward only those who suck up and attempt to deepen interpersonal relationships with them. People in this group will receive no scrutiny for their work performance. Management do not lead by example. How many companies in the developed world can a manager get away with working 5 hour days and berate selected team members who are 2 minutes late in to the office for their 8.5 hour shift? I think very few. It will be interesting to see how long this Veeam office will go on like this. If we lived in a just world, this office would be audited by executive management who would fire the support management involved and replace them, whilst offering sympathy to those affected.

Pros

- Friendly teammates that are willing to help

Cons

Where to begin? - Since starting at Veeam, the internal IT Support team has been cut to a THIRD of it's original size. From an original team of 10+ people, only 3 of the core team remain. Three USA members are left to support over 2,000+ USA employees and try to solve the flood of tickets that arrive in the ServiceDesk queue. - These last layoffs which I was a part of, 1 desktop support engineer, 1 support manager and myself were laid off. - My role was replaced by TWO other service desk analysts in Costa Rica that are getting paid pennies. Both of them combined make less than the salary I had. - Veeam is trying to cut costs anywhere they can, all while making record profits - Technology leadership doesn't listen to input from lower level management on pain points or suggestions on how to improve work-flow or help out the internal IT team - US-based IT employees never received any promotions. All employee promotions from the global IT team happened in Prague / Bucharest offices. - Absolutely no room for career advancement. Managers don't support growth. They silo you into a specific role and work you like a horse.
