Pros

I worked at Venn Group for 2.5 years in the London office, having previously been placed by them as a contractor. My experience as a candidate was exceptional; I felt supported and well-informed throughout, which ultimately inspired me to join Venn as a Recruitment Consultant. Venn Group offers industry-leading training and development, with a transparent base salary structure and a clear progression pathway defined by weekly billing milestones. The leadership is deeply experienced: the Chief Executive founded the company, the Managing Director has been with Venn since its inception, and the Business Unit Directors have similarly long tenures. All members of the leadership team have spent their entire careers in recruitment, navigating market booms, recessions, and even pandemics. Their confidence and resilience in the face of economic shifts are reassuring. At the management level, the London office is led by highly knowledgeable professionals with significant tenure. They are true subject-matter experts who adapt quickly to new markets. During my time at Venn, I had the privilege of working with several managers and senior managers, all of whom were kind, driven, and passionate about both the job and the company. The management team genuinely wants you to succeed and will work closely with you to break down KPIs and give you a voice in shaping improvements to team process and how we can all do better. Venn operates a team-based commission structure, which is especially beneficial when you're starting out. Once you pass probation, you begin to share in team success, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment. Your colleagues are teammates, not competitors, which makes for a friendly workplace culture. The benefits package is competitive, offering private health, cycle-to work scheme, clothing loan and season ticket loans. Venn Group was a great springboard for my career, and when I decided I wanted to look outside of recruitment for the next step in my career, my manager supported me where he could and offered me the flexibility I needed - my advice to new consultants would be to be as open and honest with your managers as possible, they want to help you and they absolutely will if you ask them to!

Cons

A couple of considerations: In-office working is the norm. While I personally preferred being in the office every day and found it suited my working style, this may not appeal to everyone, especially if you are coming from out of London. If remote or hybrid working is important to you, Venn may not be the right fit—though flexible working policies are available when needed, and if cost is a consideration, season ticket loans are available along with cycle-to-work schemes. The hiring team will be transparent with you about on-site working when you apply to work at Venn Group, so don't take this as gospel!
