Pros

The technical staff were generally talented, knowledgeable, and enjoyable to work with. Many of the best parts of the job came from the people rather than the company itself. When the company was able to retain employees, teams developed strong working relationships and were often willing to go above and beyond for one another. Plenty of opportunities for advancement. Frequent turnover meant positions opened regularly, allowing employees to move into roles that might otherwise take years to

Cons

During my time at Verdant, I watched a number of talented technicians and engineers leave due to frustration with company culture and leadership. Turnover was a recurring issue, and many employees felt there was little opportunity for meaningful leadership because management decisions were frequently overridden by the owner. Professionalism was inconsistent. Employees were often subjected to confrontational communication, and morale suffered as a result. In my experience, concerns raised by staff were rarely addressed in a meaningful way. Prospective employees and customers may wish to review public records regarding owner Michael Shollack, including FDIC enforcement action FDIC-22-0161e and related orders, which resulted in a prohibition from participation in financial institutions and a civil money penalty stemming from conduct involving an undisclosed vendor relationship while serving as a bank executive. I also observed company resources being directed toward discretionary purchases while staff were told there was insufficient budget for raises, replacement equipment, or hiring additional personnel. Employee laptops were often kept in service beyond what I would consider reasonable for a technology company. Employees were at times asked to perform work at the owner's personal residence that did not appear related to normal managed service provider operations. During my employment, the company offered incentives to employees in exchange for posting reviews on platforms such as Glassdoor and Google. Prospective employees and customers should keep this in mind when evaluating online ratings and should read both positive and negative reviews carefully. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Verdant as an employer and would advise prospective employees to carefully research the company and its leadership before accepting a position.

Pros

The company culture makes you feel like you are part of a family. The employees are highly knowledgeable and have great personalities. I definitely do not plan on leaving this wonderful team anytime soon.

Cons

Verdant is a relatively new and small MSP/MSSP; therefore, it lacks some of the benefits/programs that a mid or enterprise-sized company has.

Pros

• Excellent culture and team environment. The hiring process truly prioritizes culture fit, and it shows. Everyone is collaborative, supportive, and genuinely enjoyable to work with. • Strong leadership values. Mike Shollack (Owner/CEO) sets clear expectations around respect and professionalism. He doesn’t tolerate clients mistreating staff and is willing to drop problematic clients, which creates a healthier workplace. • Truly supportive leadership. Mike genuinely cares about his employees on both a personal and professional level. When I went through an extremely difficult situation, he supported me in ways I’ll always appreciate. • Recognition and fair compensation. Employees who deliver great work are acknowledged and rewarded. In my case, I received a raise that exceeded what was originally promised. • Opportunity to take ownership. Verdant encourages employees to “own” specific products, technologies, or processes. Feedback is taken seriously, and everyone has the ability to make a meaningful impact. • Great clients. Because the company carefully curates its client relationships, the clients you work with tend to be respectful, reasonable, and enjoyable to support.

Cons

• No company-sponsored insurance (yet). Instead of a traditional employer health plan, Verdant provides an insurance stipend for employees to purchase their own coverage. While this offers flexibility, it can be more expensive than group plans offered by larger companies. • Adjustment period for those from large organizations. Verdant is still a relatively young and evolving company, so processes are not set in stone. Employees are expected to think proactively, contribute to process improvements, and collaborate closely. This may feel unfamiliar to those used to highly structured corporate environments. • Requires daily problem‑solving. There’s no “coasting” or simply following a playbook. The work can be challenging for those who prefer rigid, predefined processes.
