Pros
Veritas and Symantec both have good salary and benefits policies. Though now that Veritas isn't a public company I don't know about the stock and bonus portion any more. There is a good work/life balance. At least in development they don't make you work too many hours.
Cons
Veritas products are not modern, and the management team has a lot of politics involved. Management is more concerned with the culture and building their resumes than they are with making good products. They have released a few new products recently, but that was before the separation into Veritas, and it wasn't without much infighting. More products were cancelled and engineers laid off than was part of a positive forward looking strategy. Upper management is always looking to cut costs.
