Pros

There were a few excellent people working at Verivest while I was there, just not in leadership. I found that three or four of my co-workers were great problem solvers, generally optimistic, hard-working, and a joy to work with. The pay was decent.

Cons

Verivest reached out to me directly and offered competitive pay and a grand vision to pull me away from my previous company. However, I found out soon after starting that much of what they told me to convince me to join their team was simply not true. These misleadings directly impacted my responsibilities and my ability to be productive. A few examples: (1) They did not have a functioning CRM in place. If you work directly with customers at scale, then you understand the importance of a well organized CRM. When I offered to personally take on the responsibility of getting this setup and organized, they chose instead to outsource implementation of a CRM to a third-party consultant. Over the course of several months, my superiors and the consultant accomplished close to nothing on this project, and never accepted my offers to help internally. (2) They didn't maintain a database tying customers to the services/products they were using, and how much those customers were paying for said services, if at all. Transactions were split internally between two different accounting systems because one system charged too high of a payment processing fee, causing constant confusion for customers and employees. During the time I was there, we lost critical employees and customers on a regular basis, crippling morale and productivity. They made a habit of firing employees a few months after hiring them, making for a very strange culture. Instead of just doing the work of getting the necessary internal systems and processes implemented, management and leadership had employees constantly putting out fires with no sign of improvement. Leadership made rash decisions on a regular basis, in some cases only to reverse the strategies less than 24 hours later. The overall business strategy was vague, which served to aggravate customers and confuse employees. Many customers said they weren't getting any value from the software product. Everyone had an excuse for why things were the way they were: they blamed it all on the misdoings a founder who was no longer with the company. I've never experienced a more staggering lack of accountability. Frankly, this company was not run by people I consider to be capable of navigating the launch of a tech startup. My recommendation is to avoid working for this company unless you are desperate. Even so, know that Verivest has had layoffs and showed no signs of profitability while I was there.

Verivest has been undergoing a significant amount of change as it adapts to the market demands of our industry. We believe we have a clear strategy and path forward to becoming the all-in-one solution for managers in the middle market commercial real estate investment space, however, this has taken some cycles to solidify. While we have tried to communicate and reiterate the company’s vision to our team, our efforts clearly fell short for this individual. We take to this heart and will work to address this issue for other employees. We also understand that the kind of rapid change Verivest has been going through isn’t always a great fit for all employees, and we’re sorry that we weren’t able to make it work out with this individual. We believe that we have a lot to offer the right employees, including a flexible, remote environment, competitive pay and a hard-working and collaborative team. If you have an entrepreneurial mindset and embrace the challenge of working with a company that is reinventing key aspects of itself to stay abreast of market dynamics, we think you would enjoy working here, as the vast majority of our employees do. Wishing you all the best in your career, Lindsay | Director of People Operations

Pros

- Verivest offered competitive compensation for my role - The development team seemed open to feedback and suggestions, which created an environment where employees could contribute to improving the software

Cons

- I felt misled during the hiring process regarding the nature of the role. While it was marketed as a salaried position, it turned out to be hourly, which was disappointing and caused initial frustration. - Verivest lacked organization and clear processes, making it challenging to navigate daily tasks efficiently. This lack of structure became apparent early on and contributed to a sense of chaos in the workplace. - The software used by Verivest was clunky and not user-friendly. It hindered productivity and added unnecessary complexity to tasks.
