Pros
- The bar for entry is low (management are always desperate for staff due to high turnover) - Foot in the door for experience working under a quality system, which is something for the resume
Cons
- outdated and unnecessarily problematic/time-consuming working procedures, instruments and software - 6am and occasionally 4am starts, as well as occasional late finishes (7pm) - excessive workload and strict GMP requirements leads to stress and involuntary overtime - not a place for those scientifically inclined. Quality department lacks scientific knowledge/intuition because it is not necessary for the low level of chemistry required for the job - terrible pay, which reflects the low skill level required for the job but not the ridiculous expectations - exaggerated culture of safety leads to tedious rituals and KPIs for safety issues to be raised - those working in quality control are treated like resources, not people. Profit comes first and we are treated like an unfeeling, unthinking means to release batches.
