Pros
The pay and benefits are excellent. Vacation time was lacking, but the health benefits and other factors made up for it. The product line is very good and there is a lot of faith in it at most levels. Victaulic also has a strong presence in various industries, reducing the risk from a downturn in any specific industry. The companies product line is increasingly in demand within the fire suppression industry. John Malloy, the CEO, seems to be taking steps to solidify the companies position in these industries.
Cons
There is an extreme disconnect between different departments and various levels of the organization. You will have various goals and changes thrown at you that fail to address immediate problems that will interfere with the business. Advice and documentation of problems is not acted on and problems worsen until they stop production. Anything that doesn't increase production numbers will be ignored, even things that will decrease those numbers. If you are not salaried (and even then) you will not have a work life balance that is worth anything. 6 day weeks were common at my site. Unscheduled forced overtime is very common on the union side and salary side does not fair better in the foundries. Advancement opportunities are also extremely limited if you start on the production side. They view it as a cost rather than a necessary part of their business, which extends to their view of you.
