Pros

- A few good people there - The company name

Cons

Vimeo operates by cultivating a oppressive and shark culture. Leaving employees with little to no accompaniment while pressuring to hit impossibly high targets, while you fear getting fired at any given moment. The only way people seem to hit their targets here is by screwing over your clients = making false promises or overselling with the objective or short term target achievement - which is standard practice at Vimeo. - This of course penalizes the next person who the client in handed over to who will always have to clean up the mess. The way the different tiers are packaged makes it very hard to sell (the lower plan is almost the same package for 10x less the price so a lot of clients downgrade to a plan we are not compensated for). The days when video streaming solutions were booming during Covid are over and the solutions Vimeo sell are being abandoned for cheaper solutions. Vimeo has somehow failed to adapt to this changing environment which has made them become the sinking ship that it is today. Also, don't expect to get promoted if you are not friends with the people at the middle/top, even if you hit your targets. More shockingly, even between individual contributors, people would not hesitate to throw you under the bus to benefit their own performance or reputation. There is also a huge lack of transparency in many very important parts of the business, first of all when it comes to the compensation which even middle management doesn't seem to understand or be able to explain to employees, but also on company performance and management decisions where people get fired with the reason of « team restructuring » with not even one day’s notice. The way Vimeo deals with their own employees is simply unworthy of such a reputation. Bad management and decisions has forced them to conduct mass lay-offs twice in 6 months, where employees were announced by EMAIL that that day was their last day and to not come to the office anymore. The CEO and management then have the cheek to say that they employee wellbeing is what is most important to them. Good joke. All in all, this is the most toxic company I've ever worked at. If you care for your mental health or value your integrity, avoid, because Vimeo for sure does not care.

Pros

It was a great job for a few years. Nice coworkers, chill and welcoming culture. I will greatly miss the Vimeo of years past.

Cons

Most people got laid off after the acquisition. I have no idea what the current culture is like. RIP to an iconic early internet brand.
