Pros

1. You can get lucky and score a decent working environment with a flexible schedule. 2. Leave policy probably better than most. 3. The university closes between Xmas and the New Year. (At your own expense, naturally.)

Cons

1. You are either athletics, faculty, student, staff or a minority. In that order in fact. 2. You either have a degree or you don't. There is no credit for experience. 3. The lower you are on the spectrum, the worse you are treated. 4. Blacksburg (and the surrounding area) is a cultural wasteland. God forbid if you are at all outside the mainstream. There is no live entertainment, no decent restaurants, no museums, no sightseeing, no shopping, nothing ethnic. If it doesn't have VA Tech/Hokies stamped on it, it will not survive. I hope you like football.

Pros

Loved the culture and the area

Budget fluctuates constantly, making it hard to get a lot of hours depending on the lab.
