Pros
Virginia Tech has provided me continuous funding for my phd and also allowed me to work as an instructor. Good health insurance plans are available. All staff are helpful and prompt. Offices, labs and even gyms are well maintained. Excellent support for international students.
Cons
Funding for conference travel is often low. While most funding opportunities are advertised, some are difficult to learn about. These opportunities should be broadcast more widely to select from a wider talent pool.
