Pros

They offered an 'allowance' per shift that you could use to purchase food with (in addition to your pay). You could get anything at West End (within the allowance they gave you) and West End has some good food. They also paid higher than most part time jobs in the area

Cons

Being a Roamer was a pretty boring job and you typically worked alone until closer to closing. You're on your feet a lot. (I kept track of my walking one shift of a few hours and walked close to 6 miles - Although I probably could have taken more breaks, I just didn't feel comfortable sitting at a table for too long with everyone else being busy).

Pros

The experience was great. The PI was amazing and kind and I learned a lot, definitely would do it again. It yielded great results for me such as publication. I recommend for medical school or graduate school.

Cons

Difficult to justify if you don’t plan to have a research career, graduate or professional school because the pay is lower than other positions available in Blacksburg.
