Awful company to work for - Virtual Assistant Virtalent Employee Review

Pros

The only pro is the job is remote

Cons

This company is exploitative. They pay just £14 an hour for highly experienced workers. They charge £25-£28 p/h while we the employees doing all the work get a scratch more than minimum wage. If you’re reading this and thinking “should I work here?”, don’t! Just set up on your own. I get more clients through my own website than with these extortionists. Not only that if you have an issue with a client they don’t do a thing. But if a client has an issue the other way they just take you off straight away with no warning. Do not work here, stop helping these people profit from your hard work and intelligence.

As you'll remember from when you originally applied to us, we display our hourly rates to all candidates on our website, before submitting their application, at the interview stage and again before signing a contract. We are sorry that you feel that this opportunity at Virtalent wasn't right for you and would have really liked to have known your thoughts on this before you accepted our offer to join our team. We would have addressed how you felt about you joining us, rather than see you feel unhappy later on down the line. Our rates of pay are fair and competitive against many other organisations within the industry. We pay above the minimum and living wage and are officially Living Wage accredited. As you can see from the rest of our glowing reviews, we really do put our team first and are super proud of the support that we provide to our team. Every team member is incredibly well supported and encouraged to talk openly and honestly to our dedicated internal team for any questions or concerns that may arise. We are a Mindful Employer and part of our commitment to showing this is that every VA is provided with free access to an individual assistance and wellness programme, which includes many benefits to support the wellness of each individual team member, such as providing lots of helpful resources from an online app, 24/7 telephone support, counselling sessions and more. Our team of VAs also form part of an incredible community who support each other, and share skills, knowledge and support. At Virtalent, we invest in fostering this community and hold regular virtual coffee mornings and online events. The sense of camaraderie and support within the community is something that we believe encompasses the sentiment of everyone working in the team. Pros

Virtalent has a small team of permanent employees who support the VAs brilliantly in a myriad of ways. They’re super supportive and always there to help. You can apply for the clients that interest you so you end up with a workload that is as varied as you want to make it. I’ve learnt so many new skills working with Virtalent, the work is interesting and my clients are wonderful! The wider team of VAs is lovely and Virtalent have really built and encouraged a culture of teamwork and support. There’s always someone on hand to help so even though you work remotely, you never feel alone or stuck. I’d heartily recommend Virtalent.

Cons

The hourly wage could definitely be higher given some of the work I undertake. The clients are definitely getting a bargain for some of the marketing knowledge and results I provide.

The clients we work with really are wonderful, and we're so pleased that you feel this also. We appreciate your feedback on the hourly rate. However, we do feel that our pay rate is competitive and reflects the benefits of being part of a fully managed service. This includes access to a strong client base, holiday and sickness cover, support from our internal team, a range of VA community initiatives, and free access to an individual assistance and wellness programme, among other advantages.

Pros

I Really enjoy working at Virtalent. I’ve been working with clients as a VA through Virtalent for nearly 2 years. The matching process was seamless and we were a great fit. The team are always on hand with any questions I may have and it’s great to have a network of VAs to ask for advice whenever I need it. It offers complete flexibility and opportunity to build your hours and client base over time

Cons

The hourly rate is set (goes up after 1 year) but then no room to increase after that.
