Micromanaging and hostile - Library Assistant Volusia County Public Library Employee Review

Pros

Co workers are nice besides management is not! County benefits are ok.

Cons

This place is a hostile work environment! Management will watch everything you do if they don’t like you. They watch the cameras on staff. They play favorites and only promote people within the system that they like or can tolerate. They time how long you do things. Management will micromanage everything you do! Some managers won’t even acknowledge your presence or say anything back to you when you say something to them. You’re not allowed to have your phone on you (that is a safety issue they don’t care about). You only get 30 minute lunches. And the patrons here are not the best to be around. They require a bachelors or masters degree for the “higher” positions when that shouldn’t be a requirement based on the pay and the type of work to do! The schedule sucks. They stay open till 7 pm. Who comes there then. You have to work 6 days in a row every other week. They hate when co workers talk to each other so be careful. Some coworkers are nice and some are snitches so be careful.
