Pros

Team on hospital floor are lovely, friendly and keen to perform well.

Cons

The 'flagship hospital' is NOT a hospital, it failed accreditation and is actually just a basement of a house. The conditions are appalling and the working structure much worse. Staff regularly cry and are shouted at and frequently contacted on their personal contact number out of hours either to be disciplined or to discuss the day ahead. CCTV littered around the hospital with claims it doesn't record sound but is frequently checked. The Code of Conduct is not followed and I was scared for my carer working here. The staff turnover is shockingly high. But that is considered normal in the eyes of management. No senior staff, all new grad vets or students. To date there is not a qualified Veterinary Nurse working at the 'hospital' Dabbles in insurance fraud. Illegal importation of drugs that are not licensed in the UK for patients . Management is run by an awful person with no genuine knowledge of his own. Challenge him and you'll be advised if a "clinical paper /study" that defends his opinion - - I was never able to find such papers. If you want experience of working in hell then this is the place for you.

Pros

The staff who work so hard to make sure animals are looked after despite the horrible management and company.

Cons

No matter hard you work and what you do for the company, it is not acknowledged and they find a way to gaslight you in telling that you are not worth it. Insurance fraud is a basis, morals are tested when owners are being asked to pay specialist fees and eye watering costs for surgeries done not even correctly, and no actual RVNs in any of the practices. Maybe one in the whole company? Owner is a horrid man who hires untrained staff to take on roles they aren’t even trained in, to look after patients. RCVS would only need a few minutes to figure out everything they are doing is against all policies. Toxic management List goes on but employee turnover rate is the highest I have ever seen, and no senior role stays on as they don’t want to risk their veterinary licenses working for a company like this.

Pros

None that I can think of.

Cons

Genuinely the most horrendous workplace! The staff room is disgusting; the combination of smelly rotten food in the fridge, overpiled bins and old couches smelling like urine encompasses the true essence of this workplace! Toxic work environment and management structure: micromanagement, fear mongering, empty threats about so called 'disciplinary action', covert racism, gossiping, favouritism, constant throw under the bus scenarios, workplace bullying and pinning colleagues against one another is part of their ethos; it's no wonder there's an incredibly high staff turnover! They dabble in insurance fraud by finding out an animals insurance cover limit and ensuring that every possible penny is squeezed out of said client. The owner is insufferable and is known in-house to inappropriately advance on young female professionals. Trainee nurses are promised further education which never comes to fruition so in turn you end up with underpaid, unqualified larpers 'supporting' vets and performing schedule 3 procedures. At times unqualified administrative staff and 'nurses' are given permission to pretend to be vets by the owner when communicating with clients. Diverse working environment but only because the owner loves taking advantage of immigrants by tying them to a workers visa, making those who are not registered with the RCVS practice a clinical role! This flagship hospital is dirty and disgusting, found in the basement of a dilapidated building. Equipment is old, broken and unreliable, black mould, saline bags are reused, infectious hospital patients are left in soiled kennels, expired medication is used. Persistenly overcrowding the hospital - animals are seen and treated like commodities (some spend all day in their carrier). No sick leave payout and you must arrange your own cover. Unpaid lunches you are encouraged to work through. Demand a 3 month notice period vs. them only giving you 1 week notice in return. Understaffed. Encouraged to sign a document that allow them to legally work you 40+ hours during onboarding. Overworked employees. Not being compensated for overtime! Terrible salary. You sign a contract, only for the employer to go against the terms of that contract by finding any loophole they can. An affinity for arranging unofficial WhatsApp calls regarded as 'meetings' concerning hr matters, with the promise of illusive meeting minutes which never materialise, allowing them to retract statements/promises! Employees frequently being summoned for informal meetings/disciplinary hearings in the owner's passenger seat of his car (??) is also strangely accepted and normalised. This place is a capitalist machine that prioritizes profit maximisation over their patients and employees welfare. *Their track record includes medical negligence by operating on the wrong cat in the past, which was made public by a newspaper article online. Incredibly unprofessional, toxic, grim workplace!! Preserve your integrity by avoiding like the plague!
