Pros
Students are great and the flexible schedule is a huge plus, but to be honest it's so difficult to rate this company highly or think of it in the same way as before given recent events.
Cons
Since Voxy has taken over Fluentify they have cut teachers' pay (in both companies). They sent out an email on a Friday afternoon, full of 'corporate speak' and with no warning, to let us know that they would be removing the feedback forms from private classes (meaning teachers would receive less money per pay cycle). Despite the company expanding and turning a profit, they have chosen to take away pay from teachers. They state that their pay is competitive when compared to other companies, but the reality is it's far too low across the industry so this is irrelevant. I now feel quite unsure and unstable in my position as a teacher because of the way that this pay cut was introduced with such disregard, it feels like you are just waiting for something else to happen and wondering what will be their next move. It's easy to get the impression that they are trying to force out higher-paid teachers in favor of hiring those on a lower salary. They are clearly opting to save money and do things on the cheap rather than produce a quality product- the teaching platform constantly has issues, the BlueJeans app is pitiful, there aren't adequate resources for beginner-level students and there are no perks/ bonuses for teachers, and yet they want to expand the company further without taking into account these basic things? They are also unwilling to have an open dialogue on these issues or solve them, so they are all ongoing problems that never seem to end. No doubt that the conditions for teachers and the quality of classes for students will take a nosedive from here.
