Pros

What I like most about V is how it strives to retain (if not improve) the empowering and collaborative culture it has instilled from the beginning. Behind the promising products are the amazingly active, dedicated, and passionate people who work hard, but play harder (these people do also know how to have some fun!). Working in V is synonymous to working with the best of the best in the tech industry. Learning never ceases as we get to experiment on new technologies and tools regularly. Moreover, we are sent to various trainings and conferences here and abroad and strongly encouraged to join hackathons to further develop our skills as engineers. V inspires us to move out of our comfort zones and be the best engineers we can be. V also ensures that we are well taken care of holistically. It actively promotes work-life balance by providing avenues where we can pursue activities outside work. From time to time, we have fitness classes, tree-planting sessions, financial talks, and other recreational activities. Aside from the flexible work hours we enjoy, other perks include daily food treats, full medical and dental coverage, and financial assistance. Are we spoiled? Maybe. That's how V shows that it values its people.

Cons

As the company is rapidly growing and building its mark in the industry, the workload can sometimes be overwhelming. V recognizes this and is actively hiring new engineers to help us out. Meanwhile, V ensures that we are well-compensated whenever there is a need to work long hours.

Pros

1) Swanky office + cool "fringe" perks (Macbook laptops, gym, free breakfast, bonuses) 2) Fun events every now and then 3) Young employees (it's easy to find friends in here especially of you're a Millennial) 4) Competitive health benefits 5) Flexitime

Cons

1) Serious identity crisis: On paper, it has all these ambitious visions and missions. But those barely translate to anything real. 2) Too many projects going on at the same time. Directions are confusing. So much time, money, and effort are wasted on ill-conceived products that don't really answer real-world needs. Voyager is your classic Jack-of-all-trades, master of none. 3) They celebrate the word "pivot" and enjoy killing projects. Pivots are understandable in start ups but if that's all you do, then there must be something wrong with the company. 4) Feedback process is a one-way street. There are peer reviews but there are no means of reviewing your managers. 5) Promotions and salary increases are very subjective. 6) Politics and credit-grabbing are prevalent. PR trumps hardwork. The doers are rarely recognized and rewarded. 7) Pressured to earn revenue because of high costs (wasteful marketing + larger-than-necessary manpower) but there's only a few saleable products that make sense. 8) High-pressure environment: working beyond office hours is a "norm." The culture of busy is celebrated. Lots of time are spent on planning and presenting strategies, then creating, marketing, and selling products. But at the end of the day/month/year, directions change, and all your efforts go to waste.
