Pros

Colleagues are lovely and a good store manager can really make a difference to the experience.

Cons

.Intense workload for very poor pay .'Commission Scheme' is equally poor and comes with difficult-to-satisfy criteria, meaning getting a bonus is more down to luck than skill .Only a half-hour (unpaid) break for a nine-hour shift! This is not sustainable and leads to burnout, especially as the role is so physically demanding. .Advisories for minor things, but no reward when targets are reached .Very irregular hours/not much of a shift pattern .Pressure to sell brides items they do not need for target's sake (e.g. pins, vanity cases), some managers will encourage you to almost sneak them into the quote which feels unethical, but failure to sell leads to disciplinary action even if brides clearly do not need or want these items. .No one in my store bar the manager was on a full-time contract, despite multiple people working full-time hours and requesting a matching contract. This feels like a sneaky way to cut holiday allowance and benefits. .Very high staff turnover
