Pros
The company is a good place that is easy to get employed with if you are a fresh graduate or looking for a change of industry. Not that CRO is a good industry, but regardless. The benefits while not spectacular are certainly better than what a lot of companies offer. This is really about it.
Cons
1. This company significantly underpays its employees. I was a college graduate with a B.S. from a technical field and my starting pay was $13.00/hr. For perspective, a telemarketing company in Columbus pays $12.00/hr starting with salary bumps up to 13.50 within 6 months. 2. This company is hyper reactive to everything and seems to have no long term vision or the guts to stick to this vision, if they do have it. I watched the company fire a large swath of their employees in 2008 due to a downturn in business only to have to beg some of them to come back shortly thereafter after business returned to a more normal level. 3 I had run into ZERO mid upper and upper level management in the company who had any integrity what so ever. An incident from my experience there: My group was trying out a new piece of technology that was getting broken frequently by careless employees so they started a no punishment policy if you admitted to the issue and explained the circumstances so they could work with the tech vendor to provide the proper product for my company that could handle work demands. I dropped a piece of equipment as I was rushed (you're always rushed there) and reported the conditions, etc. I was in a meeting with the management of HR and my group less than a week later telling me I was suspended for taking their honor at face value. 3a. Anyone who looks up the very senior management of the company during the period of 2005-2010 or so can make their own decisions as to the caliber of people they put in charge there. 4. The workplace is mostly fresh out of college employees and the management does absolutely nothing to try to create a truly professional workplace. There are too many permitted affronts to a true professional workplace. Managers dating/being married to subordinates, rumors of people having had sex on company property, etc which make the environment toxic.
