Finish route at 1PM, sent to go help or chase misses which resulted in me punching out at 5-6PM. I was a one man satellite driver, and was always told that no one could help me if I fell behind on route. Route managers would help out the "favorites". Always felt like everyday was my last day because of the crazy rules they had. One mistake and you're gone (I didn't have a mistake, I found other employment). Leaf (yard waste) pick up on Saturdays a few times throughout the year. Constantly routes being shut down because not enough drivers (vacation, call offs, no one wants to work). Management would tell you one thing on Monday, and then Friday tell you to do the opposite so you never knew what was right or wrong. Whatever benefitted them. Too many managers that were just people in the office thinking they were in charge (ops specialist, etc.). Routes were HUGE (800-1400 house counts). ALL managers not familiar with DOT laws. Making you stay out past your allotted driving hours to get the route done. They said they were fighting for us to have an "exception" to the hours rule, but still didn't enforce it any ways. Hot summer months received 2 bottles of water out on route. Zero work/life balance (you could never schedule anything, even on Saturdays).
